Homecoming

It’s hard enough to believe that my oldest son just turned 16…let alone swallow the idea of him attending school dances with a date. I swear I can still remember my own awkward moments of having my date pick me up and waddling around on 3 inch heels and smashing down my dress hoop skirt as I got in the car. Remember those things? Despite my nostalgia, it’s pretty clear it’s 2011 and not 1990. For one the dresses are much much shorter now. And two everyone has long flat bangs. Back then it was all about poof of your dress and the height of your bangs.

This was Andrew and Ali’s first dance together. They are adorable as a couple I must say so myself. Andrew makes me so proud in moments like this. He always has these proper old fashioned ways of doing things. He had to meet Ali’s parents first before he asked her to the dance. He also made sure that both myself and Ken and his dad met her as well before the big night. He said that he didn’t want her to be nervous about meeting us for the first time the same day as the dance. He is such a gentleman. Okay, now I am probably just embarrassing him like crazy.

Now for the photos…

Andrew made this one on his phone.

Sixteen

Andrew - 16 years

My dad has always said that Andrew is a special kid and I wholeheartedly agree. I couldn’t be more proud of the young man he has become. He continues to amaze me and I couldn’t ask for anything more in a son. Well except for growing up so fast…he’s making me feel old!

My parents got Andrew some fishing equipment. We got him an iPhone and I was even kind enough to give him my unlimited data plan since Verizon isn’t giving out any new smartphone owners unlimited plans anymore. He also got a bunch of money which I have no idea what he is going to spend that on.

To celebrate his birthday with friends we took him and his buddies to play paintball. After begging and pleading for him to have a big 16th Birthday Bash, he finally compromised and agreed to my idea of playing paintball. He has always been one of those kids who doesn’t like people making a big fuss over things. They all had a blast at paintball and some walked away with battle scars. I just watched, which I am glad I didn’t give it a try after seeing some of the welts they received.

Fall moments to remember

It’s hard to believe the kids have been back in school for two months already. Times flies when you are having fun, right?! Now that football is coming to an end we actually have some spare time available to enjoy some personal hobbies, such has spending some time on our family blog. How do you like the new header? I just fell in love with the heart/nest graphic and had to do something with it.

Here’s some photos from the past couple of months.

Did I tell ya I turned 29 last month?? Okay fine, 39…but who’s counting. Ken allows me to be whatever age I want, see even my cake says so. (Ya, hubby doesn’t take real good photos on the fly.)
Forever 29th!!! (really 39th, but hubby loves me that much)

My kids can’t ever keep their bedrooms clean. Sometimes I just want to say “Who cares!” and just keep their doors shut all the time. Do you make your kids keep their rooms tidy? I have to say I like Karli’s room the best. For one it’s PINK and two she loves to share photos and have people leave her sweet messages on her board. Hmmm, sounds familiar.
Brings back memories of my childhood...hanging new pictures all the time.

Crazy Hair Day!!

Andrew took a Parenting class this year and it was his turn to take care of a fake baby for the weekend. We were cracking up laughing that the baby started crying right as his dad picked him up for the weekend. It was all smiles from this grandma and grandpa! Andrew had a rough weekend, but he survived. Let’s hope I am not a grandma for another 10 years or so.
Andrew is a dad this weekend for parenting class ;)

He got a Mexican baby since it most closely resembled his dark complexion. We have no Mexican in our bloodlines, just a little Indian. Andrew named his baby Carlos!
Update: He got his grade for the taking care of the baby today- he got a 105%. Not sure how he got the extra credit, but sounds like he will be a great parent. HAHAHA, if only it were that easy. Too bad the baby didn’t poop up it’s back while sitting in the car seat or spit up on all over itself a few times. :0
Meet my grandson...Carlos. He's Mexican. I guess this was the closest to Andrew's s complexion, LOL.

Trick or Treat

Trick or Treat!!

Highlights of the evening:
– Tried a different recipe for chilli and it wasn’t very tasty.
– Burnt the cornbread because it wasn’t done when the timer went off and then forgot about it.
– Painted Chase’s face for his vampire costume and he looked in the mirror and smeared it all off – he went as a football player instead.
– Listened to Blake say “I’m not wearing my shoulder pads!” about 50 times…ha, look who won.
– Laughed as my 16 year old son decided to paint his face and go trick or treating with some buddies. Still not sure what he was supposed to be.
– Enjoyed walking with the kids AND my husband for the first time ever! He has always stayed home to pass out candy, but this year the grandparents handled that for us.
– Kids actually went through the entire neighborhood without taking a single break- first time ever! Only took 75 minutes!
– Chase ended the evening with a belly ache.
– Karli ended the evening with cutting a huge chunk of hair off the top of her head because her rubber band was stuck. Why do kids do that?! Ugh!

Happy Halloween

BOO!! Did I scare ya?

Our plan for the day: Chilli and cornbread for dinner and hopefully the rain will be gone by trick or treating time. My kiddos usually last a little over an hour and then they are ready to go home and pick out their favorite candy to devour. Luckily this year Tuesday is a teacher in-service day so no school tomorrow! A day of sleeping in for all, yippee yay! Their school is only having a Harvest Party today, no costumes- so we didn’t go buy expensive costumes. The kids made do with what we had on hand. I’ll share those pics tomorrow. Have a safe time tonight!

Puppy update

Often I take photos and share them on Facebook and Instagram. I like to share them on our family blog as well since this is the place my kids come to look back at our family memories. So some of you may have already seen these photos elsewhere. I wonder what it will be like in 20 years when we are looking back at old photos? Will the inter-webs still be the same? Will my future grandchildren be browsing through our family website? Crazy to think about really!

Some pictures of the puppies!! They have gotten so big. They just got spayed last week and they weighed 5.9 and 6.1 pounds. Daisy is a bit chunkier than Pippa and we can easily tell them apart now. Daisy is a lover and is so sweet. Pippa is full of energy at all times and is quite a pistol.

Apple Orchard

Apple Orchard
Seems that I don’t have much to say lately?? I keep telling myself to blog, but I am not a good listener apparently! Here are some new photos from our trip to the Apple Orchard with our niece Emma a couple of weekends ago. The girls always have so much fun together. My sister is coming in town soon so we get to see Emma again along with my other niece Ellie. I haven’t seen her since Christmas!

Let’s see, I know I can come up with some other randomness to share…

Only a few more weeks of football left and soon I don’t know what I will do with myself. Sundays are so exhausting! My first free Sunday I am going to veg and read all day long in my jammies. I’ve been trying to get into The Maze Runner. I have started to read so many books lately and they are so boring I just never finish them. The Maze Runner is a trilogy sort of like The Hunger Games and those books were amazing so I thought I would give them a try.

O.M.G. as my daughter likes to say…my kids need to quit bringing home birthday party invitations. Every weekend we have at least one birthday party to take one of the kids too. Some weekends there have been more than one. Speaking of…my oldest son turns 16 on Sunday. Yikes!!! He will be taking his driving test soon…scary!!! He went to Homecoming this last weekend with a date for the first time. Last year was just a guys night out. Andrew has a really sweet girlfriend…Hi Ali if you are reading!! I’ll share those photos in my next post. (The photos are on my Facebook page already.)

Ken and I celebrated our 12th Anniversary earlier this month. We went to dinner at Eddie Lee’s…we had not been there since before we were married. They still have the best beef barley soup. The crowd was mostly much older than us, but it was still a nice change from all the same restaurants we always go to. Ken bought me some charms for my Pandora bracelet when we went to the mall. Then we seen Moneyball which was really good even though I am not a huge Brad Pitt fan. Team Jennifer Aniston here!!

Keep reading for lots more photos! Continue Reading
