Daddy Daughter Dance

Last night was Karli’s first Daddy Daughter Dance. We had a lot of fun shopping for her dress with some friends. We found the cutest light pink sequin slip on shoes at H&M. Karli convinced me to buy them even though we didn’t have a dress yet. I figured she could find something to wear them with this spring for Easter. Amazingly, we found a dress that had the same exact sequin design on the top as the shoes at JCPenny and it was on sale to boot!

As I was getting her ready for the dance I could tell she had butterflies in her tummy. She was asking a dozen questions including, “What if I was sick today, would I still have to go?” When I told her no, she wouldn’t have to go she told me she might be sick. I don’t think she quite understood what butterflies feel like. This was her first big event and I think it made her even more nervous that I wasn’t going to be there with her.

We had a lot of fun doing her hair, nails and makeup. We decided she would wear a white sweater over her dress because it was sleeveless and I forgot to tell Ken to have her take it off for their official professional photo that was taken at the dance! Oh well, at least I got a picture of her without the sweater at home.

Ken gave her the option of going to dinner anywhere she wanted and she chose Sidelines which is like 3 minutes from our house and we go there all the time! Crazy girl! When she came home she was full of smiles and she told me all about the dance. Many of her friends were there and she had a blast hanging out with them. She ended up undoing her hair a bit so she could put a flower in her hair instead. She had so much fun and now that she has attended one of the dances hopefully next year she will allow herself to get more excited and less nervous.
