Opening a new door…literally!

After months and months of admiring new exterior doors every time we went to a home improvement store…we finally have our new door! It’s everything I imagined it would be. Something was wrong with our old door where the paint kept chipping off. I guess there was a batch of bad doors that were used through our subdivision. Call me crazy, but out of all the home improvements we have done this year, getting a new door was one of my favorites. I absolutely love it!

Am I the only one?

Now that everyone in the house that stays up past 9pm is busy playing Call of Duty Black Ops, I felt it was time to dive into one of my usual fall/winter hobbies. Ken actually caught me watching a few minutes of a knit and crochet program that was on TV and he said, “Oh, no here we go again with the knitting”. I was tempted, but I know myself too well and I know that I rarely finish a knitting project. I would rarely do something more productive so I pulled all my scrapbooking supplies out. The last time I wrote about this was in September of last year and I posted some photos of the books that I am making for the kids for their sports and school memories. I just love these books, like I’m not kidding when I say they are probably one of the most important material items I have in the house. I can rarely look at them without a tear or two slipping out. I am a very sentimental person and I think its important to both teach and share this with my kids as well. Last night I was bursting with pride as Blake and Chase were pushing one another out of the way to look at the books. Tonight I thought I would get out some of our family scrapbooks back from the years where I was really into scrapbooking and have them look through those. This has to be the only thing I love about winter. The kids activities slow down and we get to enjoy the little things in life.

One thing I was wondering about as I realized I haven’t ordered any prints of photos from 2009 or 2010 – do people still print their photos? I mean now everything is digital and our photos are stored on our computers, but are some of you still printing photos and putting them in books? I still do and I don’t want to stop. I think it’s great to view pictures on a computer especially now that there are so many neat slide show programs and such out there, but there is nothing like grabbing a photo book and flipping through the years. I can’t imagine years from now when my kids are married and have kids of their own that I would say something like, “Oh yea, we took the kids to Disney back in 2008, come look on my computer”. Now as I am typing this I am realizing that we can also easily view the digital photos on our TV as well through our network. But again, I just love photo prints! Tell me I am not the only one still printing pictures!
