Part One of our current remodeling projects:
Let’s start with the half bathroom. Originally I was going to just tear down the wallpaper in this room and paint the room a neutral color. When we went to pick out the granite for our kitchen we found a piece of scrap granite that was big enough to redo our small vanity. It is called Violetta and it has browns, grays, peaches, and very small specs of burgundy it in. I tried to pick out the peachy color for the paint. Unfortunately neither of these photos really show the true color. One is too light and one is much to bright. We also replaced the faucet, and other small details like the wastebasket, rug, and toilet paper holder. We bought one that stands on the floor rather than mount on the wall because the kids had yanked it out of the tall twice before! Oh…let’s not forget that we had to tape off everything and spray knockdown on the walls before painting. We had to do this in our kitchen as well and let me say – not fun. Well there was a lot of laughing, so I guess it was a little bit of fun. I’ll share more about that when I write about the kitchen along with the details of the new floor. The decorative piece of metal art was purchased from Bed, Bath and Beyond. We thought about hanging it somewhere in the family room, but once we brought it home it matched with the peach color in the bathroom quite nicely. I still would like to add a little more decoration to the bathroom, possibly place something on the back of the toilet or on the vanity. We also need to get two knobs for the vanity. I was waiting to see what I end up buying for the kitchen and just buy them all at once. Overall I am pretty happy with the end result. The paint color wasn’t quite what I was expecting, but it has grown on me and I like the bright, cheerfulness of the color compared to the blue that was in there before.
