weight loss

First Weigh In

Today was our first official weigh in for our weight loss videos and unfortunately I don’t have much to be proud of. It’s crazy that a week ago I had lost 3.5 pounds and then this week I ate even less than last week and here we are only a 2 pound total weight loss. How did I gain weight? I’m not too worried about it though. I did blog about some of this already yesterday so I won’t get to detailed, but I will say this is not fun. I feel like I am dragging butt because of not having caffeine and I feel like I am starving myself. Yesterday I literally had eaten next to nothing since today was weigh in and look where it got me. I need to figure out how to eat meals that are going to make me feel better and give me energy.

I am going to start making a checklist for each day and force myself to eat at least 2 fruit and 1 vegetable serving every day. Sounds simple, but it’s not for me. I will also allow myself to have one bad “carb” type food each day as long as I exercise- such as bread or noodles. Ken totally freaks out if I make spaghetti or anything with noodles. He thinks we should be sticking to chicken and rice and I swear right now I wouldn’t care if I didn’t eat chicken the rest of the month. I feel like I am depriving my body of all the things I love at all once and it feels miserable. I feel like I should be concentrating more on portion control and adding healthier foods each day so eventually I crave an apple, instead of chips. To top it off our kids are not thrilled with our food choices and I feel like I am starving them as well and they are all skinny minis already. I am going to work on a menu for next week so we have a plan of what we will have for dinner each day like I used to. Sounds like a plan, let’s see how this goes!!

Hi, returning the favor and visiting from Bloggy Moms. It can be frustrating when you lose so much one week and the next you don’t. But you have to take in to account, water weight, time of day, muscle growth, etc. I’ve found it helps to also take your measurements. Sometimes those numbers go down when the scale one doesn’t. It helps to keep me encourage when I’m disappointed in my scale! Hope you have a great week, and keep at it….real weight loss and body composition change takes time :)

Good luck!! It’s normal to have weight fluctuations… especially if you’re a woman. My weight fluctuates by 5 lbs in a month… mostly water I like to think. : ) Penny (above) has some good points.

When I was working on losing the baby weight, the most effective strategies I used were: 1) drink a glass of water before every meal (makes you feel full so you eat less 2) eat slowly (it takes 10 minutes for your stomach to realize it has food in it so you if you eat really fast, you can get a LOT of calories in before your tummy says, “Dude, I’m full!” 3) take a walk about 20 minutes after eating when the fat hits your bloodstream. That’s the hardest one to do, but it boosts your metabolism, and helps you burn fat before it has a chance to settle. Hope that helps!! I tried doing that after lunch and although I didn’t do it every day (only 3 or 4 times a week), it accelerated the weight loss.

    You can do it!!

Thank you so much for these tips! I never knew that walking after you eat would help with metabolism. I do need to drink more water though…I’m drinking crystal light which is close enough I guess.
I am dreading tomorrow’s weigh in…the time of the month is approaching and I just know I will be bloated in the am, LOL!!

Visiting from bloggy moms…..weight loss, it’s a vicious cycle!! I will tell you that if you don’t eat enough food, your body will hold onto any and all calories and store them as fat because it goes into” starvation mode”. It is best to eat several small meals during the day and drink lots of water. The best diet I EVER followed was weight watchers. I NEVER felt deprived. I had to change habits and way of thinking, it takes time but after a while becomes “old hat”. Try to get 45 min of cardio 4-5 times a week. Can just be a fast paced stroll through the neighborhood until you work up to running or using a machine like an elliptical, etc. Wishing you the best of luck!!!! Oh and writing a food diary is a HUGE motivation.

I have thought about joining Weight Watchers online many times but I hate the thought of paying for something that just seems like common sense. I can use myfitnesspal.com and track my calories, which isn’t that essentially the same thing? Or do you think the Weight Watchers point system works better? Just curious what your thoughts are. Thank for the advice and tips!!
