App addict, snow, and my girl crush

I am officially an iPhone App addict. By far the best feature of the iPhone, that the iPad is lacking, is the camera. Word is the second generation iPad will have a camera, but I just can’t imagine standing there trying to position the iPad correctly to take a photo. My iPhone camera is getting lots of use and so is my iTunes account as I keep downloading several different camera applications. The photos I take sort of document what has been going on throughout the week, so let’s review…

I gave two of the dogs haircuts, or what Ken calls chop jobs.
Tori before haircut After her buzz cut Next up Shaggy! Shaggy...less shaggy

We got tickets to go see 30 Seconds to Mars in Concert!! I am not a big rocker girl. I am more excited about seeing Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block in June. But Ken and I love going to concerts and there are a few of their songs that we play a lot. I play The Kill and From Yesterday the most. Nevermind that Jared Leto is SO HOT! Like I love Coldplay because Chris Martin has an amazing voice, but he is nothing to look at (sorry Gwyneth Paltrow). Now Jared on the other hand has the voice and the looks ;p PLUS he writes his own songs. I’m sorry, I’m a sucker for someone that can actually write their own music. He is also an actor, remember him in Panic Room?
Going to see 30 Seconds to Mars in April

While we are on the topic of music. Did you watch The Grammy’s last Sunday? Did you catch Eminem’s performance? Thank goodness for DVR because I have only watched it a half dozen more times. I was drawn in by the mystery girl that sang with Eminem and Dr Dre. I was on my latop immediately searching WHO IS THIS GIRL?? Found out she is…Skylar Grey and also my new girl crush. Check out her facebook page for pictures, but something about her…her voice, her way of being gorgeous one minute and then grungy the next. She is going to be the next big thing…you watch. She is currently working on a solo album. Oh! And she is the female voice in Coming Home by Diddy-Dirty Money and also Words I Never Said by Lupe Fiasco. You can bet those songs are on my iPhone and played daily as well.

Last week the kids were playing outside in sweatshirts enjoying the warmer weather while all the snow melted away. Good thing we didn’t pack away their winter coats and boots because we got dumped on again! So done with this white stuff! The snow was followed by rain and everything is an icy mess today. I have to say I am thankful we didn’t have any damage like so many others.
Just when we thought winter was over Lonely Leaf Frozen

Yesterday I braided Karli’s hair because she wanted to have curly hair like her friend Victoria. I only left the braids in for a couple of hours to see how it would turn out. We might try it out again tonight for school tomorrow. IF there is school tomorrow. I hear more snow is on the way, ugh!

NKOTBSB

Go ahead and make fun, but Ken and I got tickets to see NKOTBSB (New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys) in June of 2011. I tried to buy them on Friday at 10am for the presale and the choices were horrible. I am so glad that I waited because I ended up getting 10th row, section C on Saturday right at 10am when they went on sale for the general public. Pretty good seats I think! I was a huge fan of NKOTB when I was in high school. I remember stopping at Kmart on the way to work when I was 16 to get their “Hanging Tough” cassette tape. We’ve both always liked Backstreet Boys and seen them in concert in 2000 during their Millennium tour. I had a crush on Kevin who was the worst singer, but best looking in my opinion. Too bad he isn’t part of the group anymore, bummer! Also, Andrew really liked their music as well and this was his first concert when he was only 5 years old! We asked him if he wanted to go with us, but he just laughed. I don’t think there is any reason to be embarrassed, most of the people there will be our age anyways! Gotta get ready to peg the bottom of my jeans and tease my bangs up as high as possible!

Lady Gaga Concert

Lady Gaga Concert – Joe Louis Arena, Detroit, MI
The concert was amazing and I love Lady Gaga even more now than I did before. My mom had said that we were going to be the oldest people there, but we we far from it. There were people of all ages there, in fact the people sitting next to us were older than us and two of them were doctors. Ken chatted their ears off until the concert started. We were 3 rows from the front, left of center. We were almost directly in front of these mammoth speakers and it was so loud. So loud that after about half way through the first song by the opening act I felt sick to my stomach. The bass was shaking my entire body and it was like it gave me motion sickness. I tried to tell Ken, but of course he couldn’t hear me. A couple of minutes later we seen that people around us were rolling up small bits of napkin and stuffing them in their ears. We did the same and it was perfect. I actually ended up leaving them in the entire concert except for Lady Gaga’s encore.

The opening act was a group called Semi Precious Weapons and they were freaks! This guy was dressed in fishnets and the music was screeching nonsense. Check them out on Youtube if you want to see what I mean. I think they only performed like 3 songs – thank goodness!

Jason Derulo was the second opening act and he was really good. I liked all of his songs a lot, only his dancers that were a little dull.

Lady Gaga Concert - Jason Derulo - Opening Act

Lady Gaga was pretty much everything I expected her to be. She sings very well live unlike some other artists who have to lip sync to certain parts of their songs (ahem, Britney Spears). She opened up to a song called Dance in the Dark which is my new favorite song by her. I ended up taking a lot of photos and videos with my tiny little Sony Cybershot. Her dancers made the show, without them it would have not been the same. Lady Gaga’s dancing could use some work, but she was still fun to watch. The music was incredible…even with napkins stuffed in my ears! Ken says he expected a little more shock value beings she always does crazy stuff on TV. It was pretty mellow, I mean she cussed a few times when talking and there was some sexy dance moments and such, but nothing too drastic.

Songs she performed in order with their perspective photos:

1. Dance in the Dark
2. Just Dance

3. Love Game
4. Alejandro

5. Monster (also a new favorite!)

6. Teeth (this song is just strange…still don’t like it)

7. Speechless (LOVE it, so emotional)

8. The Fame (don’t really like too much)

9. Money Honey

10. Boys Boys Boys

11. Poker Face
12. Paparazzi (I thought she would have done something crazier for this song. Her outfit was just awkward looking…)

14. Bad Romance – (ENCORE)

I loved the concert…so glad we got the tickets. As part of our Hot Seat package we also got two pairs of these Lady Gaga Heartbeats Monster headphones that they sell for $100 at Best Buy as well as other places online. I seen tons of people are selling them cheaper on Ebay. We are keeping both of ours, even though they are kinda girly looking.

Lady Gaga was better than Britney, but not quite as good as seeing Coldplay in concert. That has been my favorite concert so far.

Coldplay

The Coldplay concert was amazing! Definitely one of the best concerts I have ever been to. Chris Martin is a maniac and so much fun to watch. It’s almost like watching a grown up Chase running around on stage. I wonder if he drinks a lot of Red Bull or something? I wish I had a third of that kind of energy. Then again if I was touring and performing all around the world almost every night rather than sitting in this leather chair behind my computer screen I would probably have more energy too.

I have some videos as well at the Flickr set here.

Weird Al

Last school year Andrew and some of his buddies really got into the music of Weird Al. They would sit on watch his videos on YouTube and sing the songs. Some of the kids even performed Weird Al at the school Lip Sinc or maybe it was the Talent Show, I don’t remember. When we seen that Weird Al was going to be close to home for an outdoor concert we thought it would be fun to take Andrew. Weird Al was pretty funny and his songs are quite catchy. I think my favorite part was all the video interviews that he played on this screen while he was changing costumes. There were people like Jessica Simpson, Kevin Federline (Britney Spears baby daddy), Madonna, and the videos were edited to make them look stupid. They were hilarious. What was even more entertaining was the people that came to the concert. I love me some good people watching and there was plenty of it that day. The concert didn’t start until 45 minutes after it was suppose to, plus we got there early, so I would say we had a good hour of sitting back and taking it all in. The guy and girl in front of us ended up being two guys. The one guy though stank so bad and with the heat it was enough to make you sick. Is it that hard for people to bathe and use soap and possibly deodorant? Geez! Then there was this girl who decided to drink and who knows what else before she came. She comes down the aisle carrying a beer and being really loud, and drawing tons of attention to herself. She was in her early 30’s I would guess, had saggy big boobs, wore no bra, and her jeans were real tight and her zipper must have been broken because her jeans were being held together with 1 safety pin. Let’s say the 1 safety pin was no where near enough because her fat was busting out above and below the safety pin, it was disgusting and funny at the same time. Can’t you go to Kmart and buy some Wranglers for like $10 or something? I mean that beer she bought at the concert was at least half that much and she clearly had more than 1. People are just strange, but life wouldn’t be as entertaining without them. Overall, I am glad we went and Andrew and his buddy had a lot of fun, so it was worth it.
